Why I Teach Music
I have 18 years of training in Classical Piano Performance and approximately five years of teaching music theory and composition. I started playing Piano by ear at age 5. My brother, a classical flamenco guitarist, recognized my potential and selected my instructors for the first 13 years of study. I received a full music scholarship at Houston Baptist University in Piano Performance. I studied for 5 years with Dr. Andreas Klein, Steinway Artist in residence. I have experience teaching all musical genres and student levels.
I teach beginners of all ages and levels of experience. I can offer much to individuals planning to pursue Music as a course of study or occupation. I am also experienced with the details required for songwriters, composers including those wishing to produce and distribute their work commercially.
Mastering a musical instrument requires intensive concentration, attention to detail, and abstract thinking. I love playing jazz, jazz improvisation, teaching theory and composition, and I have experience teaching across all genres.
I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds and relate well with anyone with an interest or appreciation for music. Sharing the gifts of invention and sound has led to many rewarding and fulfilling experiences for my students and myself. Two of my students received full music scholarships which paid for their university education. The transformative power of music is something I've witnessed firsthand, and it can bring hope and inspiration to all.
